[i] IP5 Offices are the five largest patent offices in the world and include the European Patent Office, the Japan Patent Office, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, the China National IP Administration and the United States Patent and Trademark Office. IP5 offices together handle about 80 percent of the world’s patent applications and 95 percent of all the work carried out under the Patent Cooperation Treaty.  The overall goal of IP5 is to reduce redundancies and streamline procedures to the extent feasible amongst the offices.
